In Nakaseke District, a 47-year-old woman is presently in police custody under suspicion of fatally hacking her husband to death in Kassaga Village, Nakaseke Sub County.
The victim, identified as 60-year-old John Bosco Kalemera, a native doctor, was reportedly attacked and brutally murdered at his residence around 11 pm.
According to ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, investigations are currently underway, with authorities actively pursuing the unidentified assailants responsible for the heinous act.
“Our preliminary investigations suggest that Kalemera sustained fatal wounds inflicted by a machete wielded by an unknown individual. At the time of the incident, Kalemera was accompanied by his wife, who fortunately escaped physical harm,” Mr. Twiineamazima stated on Friday.
The authorities have detained the victim’s wife to aid in the ongoing investigations, as the circumstances surrounding the tragic event remain unclear.
Evidence indicates that Kalemera was attacked while he was asleep in his bed. “We discovered a basin containing water mixed with blood, suggesting that someone may have either washed their hands or the machete used in the assault,” Mr. Twiineamazima added.
A team of detectives has thoroughly examined the crime scene, gathering statements from the village chairman and other pertinent witnesses. The victim’s body has been conveyed to Nakaseke hospital for a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
