Prosecutors in the trial of suspended First Vice President Riek Machar have warned that unlocking seized phones during court proceedings could compromise digital evidence.

Prosecutor Ajo Onyo’Ohisa Issa argued that only qualified experts should examine the devices, suggesting that defense lawyers bring their own specialists if they wish to challenge the forensic findings.

He said examining the phones directly in court could risk tampering with evidence and delay the trial.
